My Students
I work with the best group of second graders. They don't have much, but they come to school every day for a good meal, a safe environment, and ready to learn in our rural Title I school. I have to meet basic human needs and then begin to teach and help these students turn their can'ts into cans. We have a little over 400 students in our school, and each and every one is special and valuable and important. No matter how dirty, hungry, or uncertain they come, I greet each child with a new opportunity each day.
My Project
We need these items to expose students to different types of texts. Students need to see children who look like them in books to help them understand they can achieve. I want to use these items to make a comfortable and inviting classroom where students want to improve their reading skills. I want our room to be a place where students read for enjoyment and not just because they have to. I want them to understand that when they are curled up with a good book, they are never alone. Please fund this project to help get books and tablets into their hands.
