Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in an inner-city neighborhood. Most of the students have two working parents and many speak a second language at home. The neighborhood our school is located in is a diverse, urban setting.

My students are eager young learners.

This school year will be their first exposure to a large public school. The children speak another language at home and are economically challenged. Most students receive free lunch.

My students deserve to start their academic careers with as many opportunities as I can provide for them. They are curious and creative. They are full of questions and are constantly exploring the world around them.

My Project

The colorful pillows, book character stuffed animals and funny animal puppets will create an inviting, comfy and cozy classroom library.

A child who reads will be an adult who thinks.

Our class library is filled with exciting and interesting children's books. My hope with adding these throw pillows and character stuffed animals is to have my students never want to leave our class library.

Pete the Cat, The Pigeon from the Mo Willems books and the 5 Little Monkeys stories & puppets will give my students a reading buddies in our class library.
