This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classes are naturally curious about the world around them and to feed that curiosity I often create projects for these students to explore these questions. These students are honor students and need to be challenged with extracurricular activities such as competitions like the Fairchild Challenge and Science Fair.
From the moment my students walk through the door, I see they are eager to learn and want to continue the path of academic excellence as they progress through middle school and continue into the advanced high school curriculum.
My Project
My students often participate in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related competitions where they have to showcase their creative side. These entries often require a digital generated image and a hard copy. Having this requested color printer would give students access to more creative forms to present projects as well as unique quality that can set them apart in the science contests or competitions. I have also requested ink for this printer so that we have the ability to have color printed projects for the near future as the ink for these printers can be quite expensive.
We participate in different types of science competitions and while most encourage the entry of digitally created projects, many require handcrafted projects, so the ability to have general art and craft supplies such as color pencils, highlighters, glue sticks and colored paper would be a great addition to the color printer.
With the laminating sheets, we can laminate their hand-drawn projects so that it is easier and sturdier to display in the classroom and at our school. In addition, students do not usually have access to a colored printer. The availability of one in my class would be helpful to students wanting to print their work in color. In addition, I as a teacher could use a color printer to enhance visual learning aids for my students and provide more interactive activities that stimulate their visual sense.
