My Students

Our school is a Title I school located in a small, rural county. Our classrooms are filled with a diverse makeup of students that include English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and gifted students. Our students are very eager to learn, and they come to school excited for a new day. Most of our students come from low-income households where there are limited budgets for school materials and supplies; however, their families are very supportive and very involved our school community!

My Project

Our class will soon be learning about life cycles in science. The materials I am requesting will help supplement the current curriculum. The vocabulary readers will allow us to learn about life cycles across curriculum in small reading groups. The smaller reading groups will provide students with an opportunity to have more direct instruction and an increased opportunity to read aloud, which will help build their reading fluency. It will also allow for better assessment of each student’s understanding of the life cycle.

The science learning center will provide students with hands-on materials to complete a variety of life cycle activities.

This will give students the chance to become more engaged during the learning process. The sequencing kit will provide students with hands-on, realistic manipulatives to use in order to practice sequencing the life cycle of an insect, amphibian, and bird. By having these requested materials, our class will have a more enriched and meaningful learning experience.
