This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The science specimen kits will give my first grade students a chance to explore the topics we learn during our small group instruction time and use their curiosity to be real scientists. These will help them to make fascinating discoveries on their own at their own pace. Hand in hand with exploring science specimens, I will be using the word family flip books to support their reading as we read about the various science topics we will learn as well as the Scholastic News to engage them with age-appropriate informational topics in science and social studies. Many of my students are English learners and Scholastic News will help them learn the academic language they need to participate in oral class discussions. The Crayola Model Magic kit will be used during the animal and plant life cycles unit in combination with art lessons.
By donating to this project, my students will be excited and engaged to explore the world around them.
They have shown a great interest in science and art and I hope these materials will inspire them to be lifelong learners and use their knowledge as they grow.
