My students live in an out of the way town in Alaska. Many are Alaska natives with a strong sense of culture and pride. Although our community is lucky to be surrounded by nature, we are a Tier One, low-income school.
It is important for students to develop a love of reading as early as possible.
When students enjoy reading, their reading skills will improve along with many other valuable skills. Harry Potter is the perfect way to help kids develop their love of reading!
My Project
Oftentimes, students come to school hungry making it hard to focus on their academics. In our classroom we have a snack time mid-morning and mid-afternoon to prevent students from becoming so hungry they are unable to succeed in the classroom. Our snack-times also provide students with a quick break improving socioemotional well-being.
These snacks will help alleviate student hunger and help them focus on their academics.
Since implementing daily snack-times, I have noticed an improvement in focus, academic attentions, as well as happier students. All of these items will be put to good use and will be greatly appreciated!
