Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a Title I school and low-income families. Most of them receive free or reduced-price lunch. Some of them do not have enough money to buy school supplies. Most of my students do not have internet access or devices at home, therefore they must learn these fundamental skills for the 21st century in the classroom. My students are part of a dual immersion program. They are learning Spanish as a second language. They are distributed in two classes (class a= 25 class b=25) and are all fouth graders. When they are in my class, they spend the day speaking, reading, writing and listening in the target language.

My Project

Many of my students have different learning needs. I want to be able to provide them with options on how to sit in the classroom. Allowing different seating options can help students learn in their least restrictive environment. Throughout the day, my students work in several different groups on different activities. This allows them to move around throughout the day and not become bored at a desk. These chairs and cushions can make moving between different groups and activities more engaging and fun.

I'm creating an afternoon cup staking club and I need cups to be able to have at least 25 students participating in this club.

Please help give my students the cups that they need to play cup staking in the afternoon club that I'm creating in my school! My students enjoy and benefit from this afternoon club in my school. Having the material for this cup staking club will allow students to stay safe in the school and play with friends in a safe environment for them. Playing games helps students practice their decision-making and problem-solving. My students will learn cup staking and will participate in a contest and be able to gain prizes such as food and gifts cards.

These rewards will be used as incentives to participate and promote this after-school club. My students live in a low-income area and will be able to use the gift cards for their own benefits like buying clothes and school staff like backpacks, and others.
