Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our campus is home to four different programs that service students with autism. We have students representing the full spectrum, from non-verbal kids who communicate with visuals to highly verbal students who are twice exceptional, with autism and giftedness.
We want our students with autism to have meaningful and relevant opportunities to practice social and academic skills and real-life tasks, while running a school-wide coffee and hot chocolate shop.
With support from their teachers, our students will communicate with staff regarding their orders. Additionally, students will be responsible for the daily set-up and management of the shop and supplies. This includes taking inventory and identifying patterns with supply and demand concepts.
