This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a wonderful group of enthusiastic Kindergarten students in a dual-language program. They are eager to develop their Spanish literacy skills, but, our classroom library lacks authentic books from Latin America that reflect the diverse cultures and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries.

By adding a collection of children’s books from Latin America, my students will immerse themselves in culturally rich stories.

These books will enhance their vocabulary and comprehension in Spanish, while fostering a deeper love for reading. We will use these books in read-aloud sessions, group discussions, and independent reading time, helping my students connect with their heritage and explore new cultures.

With your support, we can build a library that not only supports their language development, but, also inspires them to become confident bilingual learners. By sharing these diverse stories, we’ll encourage an appreciation for different cultures and broaden their worldviews in meaningful ways.
