My Students
Our school serves a multicultural, diverse student population in grades preK-5. While we provide rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment, we need to expose more students to the arts through musical theater.
Our large English as a Second Language Learner population would benefit from the kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learning modalities employed in musical theater.
Below, you will see a photo of my students working diligently to brainstorm about creating rubrics to evaluate performances. Please help! Thanks!
My Project
Now more than ever students need to be able to come to school and have an authentic connection to the material they are learning. Cultivating Genius is an AMAZING piece of literature where it empowers an equity framework for culturally and historically responsive literacy. When planning lessons this book focuses on the five pursuits. Identity, skill, intellect, critically, and joy. What triggers me most is JOY! ALL students must feel joy at school.
When implementing these pursuits in the classroom, all my students of all cultures have the right to an authentic education!
