My Project

My students are diverse and as a teacher who is new to their school, I want to be able to provide a classroom library and environment that is sensitive and reflects their culture.

Throughout this school year, I have notice that my library does not represent their appearance and I want to provide a welcoming and safe space.

Books provide both mirrors and windows for students to see a reflection of what they know about the world they live in, as well as view the world like a window, seeing lives that are different from their own.
