Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are one of the most diverse groups of musicians I have met in my career. They include students from lineage that spans four continents and dozens of countries.
One of the most important aspects of our musical performance to these students is authenticity.
That is why these percussive instruments are so vital to creating a musically and culturally true performance this upcoming year.
Using these instruments would allow us to do justice in performing the music that represents many of my student's culture and identity. It will also increase the opportunities for percussionists to perform and hone their craft as well as create opportunities for new percussionists to learn brand new instruments.
