My Project
We hosted our first Cultural Diversity Day this school year and it was a huge success. Community members from different backgrounds came to our school to share their cultural traditions and foods with our students in a hands on, activity stations format. Students got to experience dance performances, taste ethnic foods and engage in culturally relevant artistic activities.
The items like myths, instruments and crayons chosen for this project will allow teachers to extend the learning into the classroom by doing lessons before and after our Cultural Diversity Day, allowing it to be information entwined in their curriculum instead of a one day celebration.
