My Project

Access to quality science education in urban settings is essential for cultivating curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation among students who often face systemic barriers. For students in city schools, exposure to hands-on science can open doors to future careers and empower them to solve real-world problems affecting their communities. Equally important is the intentional representation of diverse voices—particularly Black scientists and inventors—whose contributions have shaped history but are too often overlooked. Highlighting these trailblazers not only affirms the cultural identity of Black students but also broadens all students' understanding of who belongs in science. Representation inspires, and inclusive education ensures every student sees both possibility and purpose in the pursuit of knowledge.

With this project, and these requested items, students will be able to level up their learning in the following ways:

- STEM kits will foster Universal Design for Learning and bring hands on activities to the classroom

- Composition notebooks will teach students the executive functioning skills of keeping materials organized as well as a way to track their progress over the course of the school year

- GIRLS in SCIENCE books will help students see themselves represented as scholars in the real world

- Word Games will help students to build on their scientific vocabulary acquisition
