This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am so fortunate to read with the youngest learners in our Title I urban school. They are all so different, but have the same desire to learn and be a part of our school community. These differences in homes, languages, and cultures are what makes our diverse community so special.
All of my students want to learn and succeed, they just need to have the tools to do so.
They deserve to have the dream classroom that meets their needs and supports them as they overcome the many challenges that face them.
My Project
Learning and student engagement go hand in hand. Our students are starting to actually love and enjoy reading. They deserve more than what my room currently has.
We all know not to judge a book by its cover, but we still all do it!
First impressions matter and a classroom library that looks clean and neat and organized sparks student interest and is the first excitement they feel in each new reading adventure.
Nobody wants to rifle through a mess of books in flimsy plastic or heavy bulky bins. Nobody wants to read books with pages coming out or covers ripped and bent because they could not be stored properly. My students definitely deserve better. They will spend less time looking and more time reading!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
