This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students have multiple handicaps and need a lot of OT, PT, and speech services. Many of them struggle with their grip and/or coordination to control typical school tools, i.e. markers, crayons, dot markers, etc.
We want our students to independently hold their own materials instead of always having a teacher assist them hand over hand all the time.
We want to build independence among our students. The students want to be independent. Many of them reject physical prompts.
Imagine a student who has not been able to paint before, holding their own paintbrush, making their own brush strokes. A student can play bingo on their own or glue a project on their own. We can better measure understanding by watching what they do without our constant assistance.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
