Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a Title 1 school with very limited after-school clubs. It is my hope to receive enough fabric for the students to make No Sew Blankets for a local charity. I will guide the students in choosing an organization but I want them to be involved in the process of making the final decision. If we get enough fabric, I will let the students make a second blanket to keep for themselves or as a gift to a family member or friend.

Some of the organizations might include the fire and rescue station across the street, the county homeless shelter, the childrens' cancer unit at a local hospital, or a neighborhood nursing home.

It is a fun and easy project. It is my hope to teach my students about the value of giving back to one's community (at any age) and the impact they can have on another life.
