My Students
Hello! I currently teach at a preschool-3rd-grade school! Our school has self-contained classrooms for students with special needs from kindergarten to third grade. There are also a number of different preschool programs at my school, including two self-contained Pre-k classrooms, a blended preschool classroom, and three general education preschool classrooms. I teach in a Significantly Modified with Intensive Supports Preschool Classroom (self-contained classroom).
I currently have 20 amazing students with varying personalities, interests, and skills!
All of my students have moderate to severe disabilities and have limited expressive language. In addition, they come from varying socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. During the day, my paraprofessionals and I use various strategies in order to meet the academic, personal, and social-emotional needs of our students!
My Project
Everyday, my students participate in circle time. During circle time, we work on a number of literacy and math skills. My students currently use chairs to help them sit down and participate during circle time. However, these chairs do not provide enough support for them. Cube chairs are great for my students because they help them sit up in their chairs and stay in their own space. We currently have one cube chair in our classroom and a lot of the students love to sit in the chair. So we know that if we get more cube chairs they will be put to good use!
The cube chairs will help the students sit down and attend to teacher directed activities, a skill that is so important to learn in preschool!
In addition to the cube chairs, your support will go towards buying necessary supplies for my students like ink, laminating sheets, and Velcro! Thank you so much for your support!
