My classroom is in need of a place for my kindergarten students to store their coats and backpacks. Currently, my students have to put their belongings on their one assigned hook. Due to the inadequate size of the hooks, everything ends up on the floor despite our efforts.
For safety sake, we need a place for every student to put their coats and backpacks away neatly.
Developmental benefits of having these cubbies include fostering my students autonomy, organizational skills, responsibility and respect for their own personal property. When coats and backpacks are on the floor, students are at risk of slipping and falling, items get dirty, lost, and sometimes broken. One little hook per child does not work for us and students are frustrated as they try to manage taking care of their things. Having this cubby system will provide my students with a more efficient and productive learning environment, keeping our classroom organized and clutter-free. Children will develop good habits as they are able to control their environment and put away their coats, bags, and personal items in designated places. This boosts their confidence and independence while saving time. No more instructional time will be wasted while children struggle to keep coats and backpacks on single hooks. Please help support my students'' learning with cubbies for kinders.
