My Students

"Strength lies in differences, not in similarities". This quote describes the students in my class who come from many different cultures, backgrounds, and places. Many of these students are new to the country and need alternative technology to help them better understand the curriculum and the English language.

The 25 students who will be using these new materials are enthusiastic about learning!

When you walk into the class you are greeted with smiles, chatter, and happiness. They enjoy hands-on learning and being proud of what they have accomplished.

My Project

Flexible seating has become a new trend within the education world. This style of seating in my classroom has given students the ability to sit comfortably in the classroom. Sitting comfortably, and being able to move around, keeps a child more focused on their academics and learning, rather than focusing on trying to sit still at their assigned desk.

Organization plays a large role in my classroom environment.

Flexible seating, including wobble chairs and dorm chairs, will teach students how others may learn differently than us, but that every child has the ability to learn and they will do so in their own way. Many flexible seating options leave no room for storage in the classroom. I will be using the cubbies in order to provide an organized way for students to be able to navigate and successfully learn in this new environment.

These cubbies will continue to promote and prove to students that not "one size fits all" and that we need to be "flexible" by accepting others for who they are.
