My students need 2 forensic lab sets, studying blood types and DNA.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Collins's classroom raised $268

I teach high school biology in an inner city public school. Our school focuses on a study of law in order to encourage students to finish high school and attend college.
My students learn best by doing. Having an example, or a hands on experiment brings the concept to life and gives the students a deeper understanding of the idea. With several popular television shows including CSI, Law and Order, and NCIS my students are very interested in forensic science.
The unit of genetics is a perfect unit to bring the two concepts together. DNA, blood-type, and hair samples are realistic ways criminals are caught. By performing these labs, my students will become forensic scientists catching a criminal using the information from class. They will also be getting a better understanding of the concepts of genetics and getting a true life application. My students need 2 different forensic lab sets.
Several times in school students ask when they will ever use the information from class in life. These fun labs bring the ideas and concepts in biology to life for my students. By supporting my project, my students will have a deeper understanding and real application of genetics and forensic science.
