CSI Raider Island

Help me give my students an opportunity to participate in robotics activities in a STEM club I will be facilitating at our school.

My Students

I work in a Title I school which serves lower-income students. Most of our students struggle day to day with things like meals, clothing and have little support from home. School is a place where they can feel safe and a part of a community. n

I teach 6th grade science, our focus is Earth and Space science.

We have fun and engaging lessons with hands on activities like melting Snickers bars to understand the concept of Earth's layers and how molten lava plays a role in forming rock. We also like to use technology to practice setting up experiments.

My Project

I will be hosting a CSI STEM club where students will participate in a variety of activities including robotics.

In our scenario students will attempt to solve the mystery of the missing map which was taken by members of the crew of a shipwrecked boat.

In order to find the missing map, they will need to build and program a robot to go to a part of the island inhabitable by humans.

Students will learn collaboration with their team, they will need to be able to follow directions to build the robot, use problem solving skills and be able to communicate with each other.
