My Students
Imagine sitting on the couch on Thursday night eagerly waiting for your favorite show to start... The commercial ends and "Who are you?" by the Who streams from the speakers. You sit through CSI and the next day at school you get to catch the suspect during Forensics class!
I teach an advanced science course in genetics and forensic science for high school students in an inner city school.
As a geneticist turned teacher I wanted to offer my students the ability to learn subject matter that they already have interest in or that allows them to expand their horizons. These opportunities may lead them to studying science in college and maybe even becoming scientists. But working at a school with a limited budget only allows for supplies to be purchased for the core science classes.
My Project
I need lab materials to help my students live and learn the aspects of forensic science. The forensic masters kit will help them push their scientific investigation skills to the next level and prepare them for problem solving down the road and allow them to live out their favorite TV show, while learning the application of science skills in real life.
You will make it possible for my students to not only live a real life version of their favorite TV show, CSI, but to also learn important scientific investigation skills in the process.
