Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My ENL students are in school for almost seven hours a day during a regular school day. So many of them are new to the country and speak minimal, if any, English. Many English Language Learners stay because their parents work and are not home when they get home, but most stay because they love the comfortable environment provided for them to acquire English. Students need to keep their energy up to continue their learning.
They can crunch on healthy snacks while crunching the language barrier.
I provide opportunities for them to stay after school for two hours a day, twice a week. The headphones will provide concentration while using audio programs. The variety of snacks will provide satisfying choices for all. They will savor their success by noshing on knowledge, one crunch at a time.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
