My students need this technology to be able to print visuals to go along with lessons as well as send home letters to parents about upcoming events and new curriculum their children will be learning about.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our kindergarten class is compromised of 25 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced-price lunch. Forty percent of our students are students with disabilities. Because our students come from bilingual homes, many of them are learning the English language for the first time. These students benefit GREATLY from visuals and tactile materials. Our goal as the teachers in the ICT classroom is to bridge the school to home connection to help students succeed.
My Project
Having access to a printer in the classroom will allow the teacher to provide students with disabilities and English Language Learners visuals and tactile materials to allow better access to the curriculum. Having a printer in the classroom will also enable teachers to be able to print letters and information about curriculum to send home to families. Making a connection between school and home will increase engagement of families and therefore help students to retain information over long periods and breaks from school. A printer in the classroom will also allow for teachers to create hands-on centers to further learning.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
