I want my students to become comfortable with making useful annotations while reading high-level texts, as well as correcting grammatical errors in their sentences.
These tools will help me keep them on task, collaborate when learning, and practice their skills in engaging, hands-on ways.
The re-usable magnetic sentence stems will allow them to work in pairs to correct sentences, and then quickly evaluate each others responses on the white board. The markers will allow them to color code their annotations for a text attached to the anchor chart paper. These materials will also allow my students to participate in gallery walks and provide constructive criticism to each other's work. Materials that engage my students in the learning process will invest them in their learning.
