This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Funding for California public schools is in a crisis. Teachers have been laid off and the school year has been shortened. In this budget crisis, it is our students who suffer the negative effects.

I teach 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students in a low income high school in California.

We are surrounded by gang warfare and have a heavy police presence on our campus. Despite my students having suffered decades of education and economic inequalities, they have shown that they can excel academically when provided with engaging and rigorous teaching.

My Project

The recent use of Facebook,Twitter, and text messaging by Egyptian youth has been widely cited as a major catalyst for the recent revolution occurring in Egypt. In today's society, access to technology can equal to access to equality and freedom. By proving my students with these instruments of educational liberation, we will be able to record and share student presentations, create videos based on what we are reading, and share these with others. Students will be more engaged with this type of learning and will thus be more intrinsically motivated to learn.
