Criss-Cross and Dream Big: A Cozy Space for Bright Minds!

Help me give my students a book display, snacks, and a large, cozy classroom carpet to create a welcoming space where all 20 of my students can gather together for learning, sharing, and building community every single day.

My Project

In our vibrant classroom, every inch of space matters. At the heart of our learning is connection. That’s why the centerpiece of this project is a large classroom carpet that will give all 20 of my first-grade students a shared space to sit, learn, and grow together. Whether we’re solving math problems, diving into stories, or discussing big ideas, this carpet will serve as our community circle, a place where students feel seen, safe, and supported.

I’m also requesting snacks to keep students' energy up, a book storage shelf to enhance our cozy library corner, and a parachute for active play and team-building fun at recess.

This project will create a more engaging, organized, and nurturing learning environment. With the carpet, students will have some cushioning to sit on and won’t feel cramped during group lessons. The carpet will become their learning hub. The snack supply ensures that no student is distracted by hunger, especially those who may come to school without breakfast. Our new book shelf will give students easy access to books, encouraging independent reading and a love of learning. And, with the parachute, recess becomes a time to build the teamwork, social skills, and joy which are all essential for growing well-rounded learners.

My students are curious, energetic, and full of potential. Many come from underserved communities, and they deserve a classroom that reflects their brilliance. This project isn’t just about materials; it’s about giving them the comfort, care, and tools they need to succeed.
