My Students

There is nothing like sparking a young kid's interest in biology and chemistry like solving a crime.

My students are in the 8th grade of a suburban school.

I have 165 students that range from advance students that take the Living Environment Regents course to English Language Learners to students with disabilities that take general science. All of my students learn about genetics and basic chemistry.

My Project

The two forensic science kits I requested will be a great way to teach students how different sciences are use to solve crimes including how to distinguish fingerprints, test for poisons, blood typing, test for bacteria, and analyzing ink using chromatography. Students will have to learn about the science behind all these activities in order to solve the crimes.

I believe that by providing a real world application, such as solving crimes, for students is a great way to demonstrate why it is important to learn about science.

It will also help foster a love of learning science and create an engaging student environment.
