In my typical day I see about 150 students. I teach an Advanced Placement Psychology class and a class entitled Human Social Behavior (think of this class as a mix of Introduction to Psychology and Social Psychology!). I would love to make my space (my classroom) an area that is warm and inviting; safe.
I work in a High School environment and interact with all grade levels in my classroom.
55% of the students that I interact with are low-income students that are every bit deserving of a classroom that can provide them with all types of different learning opportunities. I really want my classroom to be a place where students can come and leave all the other stuff at the door and focus on content.
My Project
I am really excited about being in my classroom, however, being in an older school I have a classroom that is really the bare minimum. As I begin to get my classroom together I really want to make it a safe space for my students. I want it to be an area that they can learn in, but also relax in. High school can be a stressful time (as we are all aware) and it is always important to remind these students to not take life so seriously!
I plan to utilize the supplies (Sparkle Butterfly Chair, and Plush Microsuede Saucer Chairfrom) in this project in my classroom for many years to come.
Unfortunately, our budget has been cut many times and that makes it hard to create the space I strive for in my room. I hope to use your donation to decorate my classroom with things other than tables and chairs!
