My Students
My students love to create. As I strive to integrate more and more 21st Century Skills including collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity; my students need a Cricut to enhance their presentations that demonstrate their learning. My students need a way to turn what they dream in their heads into reality.
My students learn best when they work collaboratively with one another on high level thinking tasks which they share with others to show what they have learned.
My third graders are a truly amazing group of learners who work together well, enjoy challenges, love to learn, and learn best by activities that are not just paper and pencil tasks. The school has approximately 415 students in a suburban area with a percentage of students who travel to the school from an inner city area which makes a culturally diverse population of learners. They need to see connections in their learning to the real world. They also need to be active to learn and have opportunities to include their own voice and creativity in their learning. They are a fun group to teach, and I love them to pieces!
My Project
This Cricut machine will be used daily in my classroom to allow my students to turn their ideas into reality. In a 21st Century classroom, students are active participants in their learning. Learning is not restricted to worksheets and problem sets. Instead, students engage with the world around them. They ask questions, seek answers, and share their knowledge with others. As my students work on their communication skills, they design presentations of their work. My students need a Cricut machine to add creative touches to their projects.
Today's learners need opportunities to extend their thinking beyond the classroom walls where creativity is nurtured and valued.
The Cricut will be used by my students to add features to their designs. Through exploration, my students will discover they have the skills and knowledge to succeed at challenging tasks.
It's exciting to think about how different my classroom will be once we have this Cricut machine, in a good way! Students will be excited to learn, engaged in lessons, and active. No longer will our days be spent only using the materials of paper, books, and pencils. Today's learners deserve to be challenged and excited in the classroom. They need to develop their critical thinking skills creatively.
