Hello! I'm hoping that you can help us add some much-needed items to our popular makerspace area. It's been wonderful to see our students put down their phones and find joy, confidence, knowledge, and new friendships through their work in this space.
The materials that I've requested will ensure that our makerspace area continues to be functional, organized, and engaging.
In our "Artist's Area", we offer paper, fabric, yarn, and small pieces of wood for students to create artwork. However, the only assembly option we have is glue, which works well for paper but is too messy and weak for other materials. The Velcro dots, tape, and glue gun will provide greater versatility and options for projects.
In our "Builder's Area", we have several items including a circuit kit and some small motors that are both powered by batteries. The materials in this area allow the students to experiment with engineering concepts, learn about circuits, and build functional creations. Unfortunately, we are down to our last two batteries for the school year, and without more, this station will be shut down.
Finally, in order to stay relevant, I need to make sure that our makerspace area continues to be engaging and organized. The border and hooks will be used to decorate and display student artwork. The trays will be used to organize materials and reduce clutter, while also allowing students to gather and carry their project materials. Additionally, I've added two black light flashlights. My students love to use these flashlights with the special "invisible ink" pens. Our current ones need to be replaced.
Our makerspace offers our students a place where learning is both fun and meaningful.
