My Project
My students complete a variety of projects throughout each week which allows them to work on a variety of skills. Some of the activities we do involve adults cutting construction paper into pieces that the kids will follow visual directions to glue together to create something related to what we are learning. It could be a bus, a penguin, a flower but each project has steps shown through pictures so students are able to at least press the pieces together with glue.
Having projects that all kids are able to complete helps to work on fine motor skills and following directions while helping to achieve a small piece of independence. My students struggle to complete many tasks so I try to be as creative as we can with art projects where they can use a paintbrush to make a line or use a spray bottle to spray paint in order to foster a sense of independence and ownership to complete a project. We have been using the same supplies for a few years now and it is time to re-stock on many supplies that we use often. I'm excited to see the progress that my students will continue to make through creative art projects!
