My Students
I have the joy of being in a classroom with identified gifted and talented children. They are not only academically bright, but are wonderful young men and women - kind, curious, imaginative, socially and politically concerned. I absolutely love being a part of their growth and seeing the wonder in their eyes when we are learning together. I believe that my students deserve the very best; and your generous donations will make it possible.
My gifted students need to be challenged; so they can grow, explore curiosities, and try new things.
They are motivated by all the technological advances our world has to offer and I believe it is my responsibility to provide them opportunities to develop 21st century skills. I am passionate about integrating technology into my regular core instruction in order to increase authentic STEM instructional strategies and learning.

My Project
The new Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) encourage educators to plan lessons using the 5E method - engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate. Scientific and engineering practices are a key component of science learning and refer to the things that scientists and engineers do and how they actively engage in their work. Scientists do much more than make hypotheses and test them with experiments. They engage in wonder, design, modeling, construction, communication, and collaboration.
With your generous donation, my students will be able to build robots using lights, sensors, and motors and then code with industry programming languages such as Python and Java.
We will integrate robotics and computer science into subjects from ELA to ecology, math to music, and beyond; applying scientific thinking to other subject areas. Beginners can build or program/code a robot in minutes, and then continue learning advanced engineering & programming throughout the year.
