I teach a virtual self-contained classroom with multi-grade students in Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade.
My students are amazing, unique, loving and energetic little humans!
They are vibrant and brave, active and creative. My students are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Down Syndrome. I have verbal students as well as nonverbal students. All of my students have difficulty with communication skills, social skills, and struggle to process sensory information.
Our class is bare and supplies are minimal. My students deserve the best, and at the very least deserve the items deemed necessary to help them self-regulate, de-stress and provide imperative sensory stimulation.
My Project
My students are unique and extremely creative. The Cricut will help my students expand their imaginations while being able to contribute to making their own classroom come to life. My students are beyond creative. I have found that students enjoy learning when they feel pride in what they are using.
The Cricut would allow us to design, create and turn our learning materials into a personalized learning space.
The possibilities of using a Cricut are endless! My students can bring their creativity to life by making their own personalized materials to work with, we can design bulletin boards together, can make personalized manipulatives, create items for our annual fundraiser for our class to purchase more desperately needed supplies, and last but most certainly not least, can create individualized identifiers for any trips we take – be it down the hall or across town (i.e. shirts and lanyards) – so they do not get lost from the group. The Cricut will be an amazing tool for our entire classroom!
