My Project
It has been proven that learning to play an instrument helps young people in a multitude of ways. First and foremost is the joy of playing. When you learn to play an instrument, you are happier, you feel accomplished and you build community with other players. It is also a way to give students another option when they reach for their phones. We know that listening to (or making) music increases blood flow to brain regions that generate and control emotions. We know it helps with memory, focus and processing. We know it builds hand-eye coordination and sparks creativity.
In my school, we have so many students who want to learn to play guitar, but we do not have guitars.
My hope is to purchase 15 guitars, cases and extra strings so that I can teach beginning guitar to and provide them with a quality instrument to get started.
