I work in a very diverse school that services students who have a variety of needs in the suburbs of Harrisburg. Our district is very large and it can be challenging to make sure all of the students needs are met. I teach special education classes for students who have mental health, behavioral and learning needs.
Along with having high needs behaviorally and academically, my students come from very diverse backgrounds which makes the day very fun and interesting.
It can be very challenging but it is very rewarding and keeps me on my toes!
My Project
Chromebooks will allow my students to use technology to further their education and take their learning beyond the traditional four walls of the classroom. I will be able to use apps like google classroom and canvas to create lessons where students become immersed in the activities like touring the Holocaust Museum or completing an engineering lab.
Chromebooks will provide the students with different modalities to learn about a variety of concepts which will help to meet their unique learning needs.
Using technology is an important skill for all students to learn and I feel that my students would benefit from being taught how to use technology in an appropriate manner.
