Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have students that are very resilient. They have been through Hurricane Harvey which still has buildings closed waiting for repairs. After that, school was closed for bats and now, it is closed for COVID-19. This has been very tough on the entire community; however, they continue to stand together while apart.
Many of the students are creative and artistic and deserve to show off their talents at school and share it with family and friends.
Many times these talents are overlooked due to having to pass a test each year. They need to see they can use their talents to make others happy and possibly make a living.
My Project
The laser printer and drawing tablet will allow my students to use their creativity to personalize their own items and/or the items bought through this project.
Imagine receiving a unique personalized item from a child with anything they can create or draw!
There are many STEAM lessons built around laser engraving! Students who are artistic but not necessarily book smart will be able to shine and show off their talents!
The language building lessons can be used to help less artistic students to create personalized items by instructing the adult on what they want to engrave. The students will use their language skills to describe what they want to create, what items they will need to accomplish their project and older students will assist younger children by instructing them and assisting them with their designs. What a wonderful and fun way to get younger and older students interacting in a fun activity!
