Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with many challenges as middle school students, but they love to learn.
My students are creative, thoughtful, full of questions all of the time, and they love to learn.
They love to be engaged, try new things and pour their hearts into engaging projects that challenge them and allows them to think outside of the box to find solutions. Our students love technology, and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically on a daily basis.
My Project
My students love the opportunity to be hands on in the classroom! understanding of coding, and problem solve like engineers. This will bring a new level of engagement to my classroom and help expose students to new ways of learning. ARMS is a Title I urban school located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
I am eager to teach my students different things in my classroom, and the opportunity to be more hands on while having the opportunity to explore the outdoors while flying a drone, or play games that allow them to critically think through a coding game, or play touring tumble in my classroom, STEM education is very important as I want to get students excited about subjects like 3D Printing, robotics, and coding.
My students are always highly engaged with playing in the Maker Space in my class where they are given the opportunity to build with Legos, code with the Sphero Robots, make 3D puzzle objects, and do cool activities like build the tallest structure with pipe cleaners. My goal this year, while teaching my content, has been to give students a space within the classroom where they could explore new things, and this project would give them the opportunity to use so many different items that would enhance learning in my classroom as well as get students excited for some of the amazing things they may just create in the future.
I would love to have this project funded so that I can continue to allow students to explore the world of STEM with all hands on items to help evoke creativity and have students excited to learn new things! Thank you for your consideration of this project!
