My Project
Hands-on activities are highly effective in helping young students achieve their speech and language goals because they provide engaging, multi-sensory experiences that encourage communication and interaction. These activities naturally prompt students to use language as they describe, question, and respond to what they are doing. Creating art can introduce new vocabulary, reinforce sentence structures, and improve articulation as children name items, follow instructions, and express their thoughts. Additionally, hands-on tasks make learning meaningful and memorable, fostering motivation and confidence while allowing speech and language skills to develop in a practical, context-rich environment.
Several of my students have ADHD and autism and thrive when they are able to physically connect to their work.
