Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The project aims to ignite a passion for civil and structural engineering among low-income students by providing them with hands-on opportunities to explore fundamental concepts in the field. Through engaging activities and guided experiments, students will gain a deeper understanding of the mechanics underlying engineering principles. By designing and executing their own projects, they will not only apply theoretical knowledge but also cultivate critical thinking skills as they navigate the complexities of problem-solving.
Moreover, the individual projects will serve as a catalyst for fostering an interest in STEM disciplines.
As students immerse themselves in the creative process of designing and constructing their projects with the wood strips, glue, and utility knives, they will develop a sense of ownership and pride in their work, bolstering their confidence in their abilities. This sense of accomplishment can be a powerful motivator, encouraging them to explore further within the STEM field and consider pursuing careers in engineering.
