Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a class of students of great need, socio-economically. We are an urban neighborhood public school filled with over 600 students of all lower-income obtaining backgrounds, high academic need in terms of resources and funding but culturally rich Latino backgrounds and highly motivated to succeed. 94.5% of our students receive free or reduced-price meals and our families need support in providing supplies necessary for my students to learn to the best of their ability.
Despite some family financial setbacks, my students have a drive to learn and love to come to school every day.
They are attentive, engaged and love to interact with one another, sharing ideas and knowledge. It is truly my joy to see them come alive when they learn and share new things in our classroom.
My Project
Please help me assist my students have access to essential classroom supplies that inspire their creativity! We are in desperate need of basic art supplies to supplement our 6th Grade Social Studies units.
My students can not afford things considered basic such as notebooks, folders, scissors, glue, coloring crayons, markers or colored pencils.
We will use all of these materials to create colorful foldables and visuals in our Social Studies notebooks that will help us remember important facts & information. These will become artifacts for units such as Ancient Africa, Ancient China, Ancient India and other civilizations that we can refer to over and over again.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
