Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a Title I school, I find that my students face many challenges in and out of the classroom. The majority of my students receive free lunch. A large portion are also English language learners.

Despite the many obstacles these students face, they are always ready and willing to learn.

They work very hard and are eager to succeed in all areas. I am so proud of the work ethic and perseverance that these students show day in and day out.

My Project

My students will be able to complete STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects with the supplies we have requested.

With Common Core, we are asking the students to be able to "show" what they know.

These art supplies including watercolor paints, scissors, Smead folders, Elmer's glue, and Crayola colored pencils, will allow my students to create projects demonstrating their understanding of key concepts. We are getting ready to do a unit on tornadoes. Students will research tornadoes. Instead of the typical essay, students will use the art supplies and folders to create informational brochures on tornadoes and tornado safety. The colored pencils and watercolors will allow the students to showcase the information they are presenting.

I am also requesting three Gaiam Balance Ball Chair replacement balls.
