My Students
The students in the district that I work with come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We have low income households to well off households, two parent homes to single parent homes to multi parent homes. We have students with siblings and students without. No matter their background, they are all loved by each and every teacher and staff member they are surrounded by.
My job is to help these very students learn the skills necessary to create 21st century students who are career and college ready!
My Project
I teach a Creative Writing class at Entrada high school. Many of these students have struggled greatly during the pandemic, being removed from general education high school settings and ending up at our high school. I want to give them an experience that is meaningful and will help them write (not type or text).
Having these journals and colorful pens will allow for my students to write and express what living through Covid-19 has been like for them.
They need an outlet and through my writing class, I can give that to them in a different way.
