Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Gutenberg never envisioned this when he invented the printing press: 7- and 8-year-olds begging for a printer so they can produce original poetry, stories, and research papers.

My students are bright, creative, and have the special needs of "highly gifted" children.

When under-challenged, these students often get "left behind," leading to depression, behavioral issues, and eventually dropping out. Teachers do our best to provide academic engagement and opportunities for students to rise to their full intellectual and creative potential. These students can write very prolifically, but often their little fingers cannot keep up with the speed of their thoughts. Luckily, young children can type much more quickly, though some do not have computers and printers at home.

My Project

To allow for the high volume of student output, I am asking for a laser printer and toner cartridge. Our class printer is very old and the ink is SO expensive that I mainly use it to print teacher materials but have to limit student use. Yet, the students can and want to create so much! Your support would allow students to immediately print their work, edit, produce more stories, poetry, research, and do more in-class group projects which build collaboration skills. You would also increase access for students who do not have hardware at home.

Given opportunities and encouragement, these bright children have the potential to be tomorrow's leaders.

Their future livelihood and contributions to our community may depend on access to technology skills. You can help give them these tools and, more importantly, the sense that there are NO LIMITS to what they can do!
