My Students
Our school is over 107 years old and the library has not received any updates since the late 1980s. My students come from low-income families, and for many, their visits to the library are their only contact with a library and access to new books.
I am the school librarian for 275 smart, kind and spunky children who love to read!
They get so excited every time they hear a new story in the library. They thrive in a warm, and inviting environment where they can read, write, collaborate and express their creativity.
My Project
My students are energetic, friendly and smart young readers. They enjoy engaging in group activities where they collaborate and learn from each other.
The tables in our library are over 30 years old and are not made for 21st century STEM activities, do not encourage collaboration and due to their age are not very inviting.
New circular, bright and sturdy tables would allow students to share the books they are reading with their classmates, and allow close proximity for our projects where they work on coding robots, digital history projects, literacy posters and other creative ideas my students think up!
