it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of the most important and most difficult things to teach in schools are 21st century skills. Sharing, creativity, accepting constructive criticism, and cooperation are often touched upon but are not deeply explored in our general education classrooms. These skills and many more are critical skills in all STEM-related careers.
While I provide plenty of project-based learning in my classroom, I want to incorporate another unique quality to my STEM lab.
Through the philosophy that children learn best through play, I want to provide my students with a chance to explore STEM-based concepts and learn 21st century skills in a creative way. Most of the items I have selected are science and engineering based games and toys that require students to work together in order to accomplish the goal of the activity. The other items highlight mathematical skills that students may do individually or with a small group. Through play, my students will build their knowledge of STEM subjects as they develop the necessary 21st century skills of the future.
