Creative Solutions to Supporting Kids Through Big Feelings

Help me give my students calm down tools and support teachers with behavior tracking materials to help us explore the root cause of student's behaviors.

My Project

As we look toward the final stretch of the school year, it requires some creative problem solving to keep students engaged, and emotions regulated.

I am requesting a number of items that may seem unusual but are meant to help either prevent behaviors, track already occurring behaviors, or help to improve overall school climate.

To prevent behaviors at our school we utilize PBIS and this year we have implemented a number of school wide rewards and goals. To measure progress we are currently cutting out leaves by hand, I am requesting a Leaf SureCut Die so that we can increase the speed of this process. In a further effort to prevent behaviors I am requesting: snacks, noise cancelling headphones, LED light strips (to tone down harsh lighting in our calm room), a sound machine (for our calm room as well), new tents to replace the worn out ones in out calm room, and some new sensory/fidget tools. Warheads and sourpatch kids can be used to help quickly regulate during a panic or anxiety attack, and timers can help get students back on schedule.

To track behaviors, I am requesting stopwatches, digital hand tally counters, and retractable pen/highlighter keychains for teachers.

To improve overall school climate I am requesting a number of games, that can be used during some club times or for team building activities.
