Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every child must have the opportunity to express themselves creatively. My students enjoy creating art. Every day my students are excited to learn in a non traditional way. They are active learners and they enjoy music and visual arts.

My students are 23 energetic and enthusiastic second graders.

They are very creative and enjoy learning by collaborating with one another. Our school is located in a low-income neighborhood. Our school is visited by an Arts teacher once a week, therefore not all our classes receive lessons from the Arts Teacher. I have taken into account the need for the Arts in my classroom, but lack some materials that we need.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will be used in all forms of Art. The clay will be used as students learn about sculptures' form and they will create a sculpture of a folk-tale character. They will use the pipe cleaners to also create sculptures and to add details as they create a costume for their theater show. They will learn how to use the recorders for music and will also play them for a performance in theater.

Having these supplies will impact my students' learning and creativity.

They will be able to create pieces of art and implement what they have learned or seen in pictures or books. They will also learn how to play songs and read music. Their lives will be better by having experienced hands-on, the outcome of their imagination.
