Creative Minds Need to Wiggle!!!

My students need to be able to sit comfortably while learning. Providing them the opportunity to wiggle while they learn would increase their academic success and provide a comfortable and fun learning environment for all.

My Students

My students are extra special because I have gotten to spend two years with most of them. I teach in a Title I school. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students come from diverse backgrounds. Many of them have learning differences and are raised by someone other than their parents.

My students love school and learning.

They are very creative and have great minds. They also like to move and wiggle. For many of them, our classroom is a secure, routine and safe environment. Many of their home lives are not typical.

I have the best job. I get to work with 29 bright minds every day. Teaching my students to be good citizens, kind and empathetic human beings is a huge task. They come to school every day eager to contribute to our community.

My Project

School seats are hard and not flexible. Research shows that students who are allowed to move while working will learn better. Flexible seating, which include wobble seats, wobble cushions and balance ball seats will provide opportunities for my students to move. Allowing them to wiggle while they learn can increase student academics.

Learning should be FUN!

Why not make it so by incorporating new seating in a full class? My students will love being able to sit in a chair that isn't blue and boring. New seats will help them focus on the task at hand and allow for movement, which will increase attention. My students deserve a chance to continue their learning in an environment that gives them choices.
